Chandler, AZ, December 06, 2009 -- Chandler Christian Church announced the launch of its, “Simply Christmas“ website (www.Simply-Christmas.org) to provide the community resources and inspiration to have a simpler Christmas while focusing on why we truly celebrate the season.
Roger Storms, Senior Pastor of Chandler Christian Church commented, “We’ve really complicated the season and event. I mean think about. Does this sound like you:
We add colored lights and fake snow in the desert.
We inflate snowmen and Snoopy’s in our yards.
We add characters like Frosty, the Grinch, Tiny Tim, Rudolph and yes, dare I say it, even Santa!
We doll up our houses, put up Christmas trees, spend WAY too much on presents and burn candles that smell like pine trees!
We dress up, go to parties (some we’d be embarrassed to bring Jesus to), and eat WAY too much!
We sing Jingle Bells, White Christmas, Grandpa Got Run Over By A Reindeer and maybe, just maybe a few Carols.
We send photo/Christmas cards, hurry everywhere, say Happy Holidays and sometimes even Merry Christmas and comment how much we just love this time of the year!
And then“¦ we collapse“¦exhausted and vow that we simply won’tdo so much next year!
So this year, we’ve simply decided to encourage you to remember what this celebration is simply all about. I’m not advocating that we don’tdo all the other ““ but that we keep the simple truth of Christmas where it belongs. Maybe that means that you don’tdo as much decorating or do more decorating that simply focuses on why we celebrate the holiday. Maybe that means you don’tgive as many gifts to others and make sure that your best gift goes to Jesus! But whatever it means for you“¦remember to keep it simple, keep it focused on Christ and make is simply, Christmas!“
