Montreat, NC; August 7, 2013: A select group of Montreat College students, under the guidance of Communications Professor Dr. Jim Shores and Charlotte, NC Producer/Director Willie Mangum, is at work scripting best-selling author Don Brown’s Navy Justice Series for a possible TV series production.

The project, which involves drafting scripts for the first six episodes for a television series, arose out of conversation between Dr. Shores, Chair of the Communications Department, and Mr. Mangum, formerly with INSP network, who is now Founder and Managing Partner of Lydian Stone Entertainment, LLC.

Guest lecturers during the course included Wes Halula, director/writer/producer, and President of HappyFunTimeIndustries, a Los Angeles production company, and best-selling novelist Don Brown of Charlotte, author of the national bestsellers TREASON, MALACCA CONSPIRACY, and five other novels published through Zondervan/Harper Collins.

During the course, students examined the art and craft of screenwriting, utilizing various textbooks on story structure with an emphasis on adaptation for television and motion pictures. The class, which was taught at the college’s Black Mountain Campus, was titled CM 480: Special Topics in Screenwriting — Adaptation.

Brown’s “Navy Justice Series” includes the novel TREASON, (ranked number 1 in the world on the amazon.com bestseller list for fiction in November of 2009), along with sequel novels HOSTAGE and DEFIANCE.
