Instagram has managed to acquire a total of 200 million users which is double the number when it was acquired by Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.
According to a new analysis by eMarketer, Twitter had 30.8 million American smartphone users while Instagram had 34.6 million smartphone users in 2013. In 2014, the gap is expected to widen even further.
Well that does not necessarily mean that Instagram is now bigger than Twitter. According to EMarketer, most Instagram users owna smartphone. However, the gap between the number of Instagram and Twitter smartphone users seems to be growing continously.
Instagram is estimated to grow by 17% in terms of number of smartphone users. It contines to get more male users. As per Emarketer, their number is estimated to rise to 56 million by 2018. Instagram is a popular online photo and video sharing service. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. It was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for $1 billion in cash and stock. As of 2013, it grew by 23% and is estimated to grow by 17% in the coming year. It was a good strategic investment for Facebook which has an almost flat growth rate now.
