Several school travel companies have been making dreams come true for music students in the UK and abroad in recent times, according to news items published on online news portals.
A good example of such a fact, for instance, comes from the choir at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, in Michigan, USA. Thanks to the efforts of both the school and a local tour operator, these young men and women were allowed to embark in a tour of the United Kingdom, where they performed in all sorts of unique and exciting venues, from Gothic cathedrals in Oxford to the village square at Stratford-Upon-Avon. All in all, this choir performed a total of eight pieces during their tour, and by all accounts they were extremely impressive, in spite of jet lag and time differences.
Aside from performing in the venues detailed above, the students were also given the opportunity of delighting in London’s many attractions, including visiting the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels and attending a West End musical. Trips to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths completed the educational content of this trip.
And, while some students were coming into the UK, others were leaving: the St Martin’s Ampleforth School Choir travelled to Lisbon last month, for a series of concerts that proved very successful. On the course of this tour, the youngsters got to sing at some of the Portuguese capital’s main monuments, including the Sé and the Jerónimos monastery. A round of sightseeing around the city’s historic areas was also included, which proved a big hit amongst the pupils.
Both these tours are proof positive of the impact school travel companies can have on pupils in the most diverse areas, and especially in choir singers or music students looking to enjoy the experience of performing abroad.
