Houston, TX; 28, April 2015: Houston-based residential solar energy company Simplify Solar will be making their final pitch to win a $100,000 prize in the second round of the US Department of Energy SunShot Initiative for Business Innovation, in San Francisco on May 14, 2015. Its winning application from the first round has highlighted its unique turnkey solution that streamlines the process of purchasing and installing a solar PV system for your home. Five solar companies, of which Simplify Solar is one, will be chosen from a final batch of 17 companies. The initial cash prize of $30,000 will be announced on the same day as the pitch. Afterwards, the rest ($70,000 in cash) will be distributed over a span of six months after achieving certain milestones.

Previously, Simplify Solar won the first round of funding receiving $25,000 in software development services to enhance its existing software platform. Simplify Solar’s cloud platform disrupts the residential solar market by lowering the financial barriers of entry and simplifying the entire process of purchasing and installing residential solar PV systems. The founders believe that the creation of the Simplify Solar platform is a win-win solution for residential homeowners and installers. “We put the power back into the hands of consumers by giving them a centralized location to calculate their consumption information, build a solar PV system, select a financing option, choose local installers who compete for their business, track their installation, and even monitor energy savings and production post-installation,” says Sohail Hassan, the Texas solar company’s President and co-founder.

“For homeowners, Simplify Solar empowers consumers with choice, convenience and value. For installers, it lets them concentrate on installing solar PV systems, and cuts out the headache of marketing their company or specifying and designing a solar PV system,” Hassan continues.

“We want to thank our initial beta customers over the last five months who provided early confirmation that the Simplify Solar business model works,” said Roy Joseph, the CEO and co-founder of Simplify Solar. “This second award will be a further confirmation of Simplify Solar’s unique turnkey solution which combines an automated software platform, a network of qualified solar installers and an affordable hardware package to lower the financial costs related to residential solar PV.”
