Tecno, a china-based mobile phone company recently announced that it will launch new Android phones in the African market. The company reported that its main objective is to distribute cheap smartphones to the continent and aims to become the Mobile King of Africa. Currently, the mobile company ships its products to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Egypt and has plans on setting up new manufacturing plants in Kenya and Nigeria very soon.
Tecno Company was setup in 2006 with its first reaserch centre in Shanghia. Initially, its main focus was on the South Asian Market but after some market studying, the company shifted its interest to the African market as it found out the continent provided more profit. Since 2008, the phone company has been manufacturing smartphones for the African market and is sold at very cheap prices. Tecno reported that its customers are mostly the youth aged between 17 to 35. With the new generation depending on their phones to access internet, the company reported that it is working on a range of internet series phones which will be launched in some time. The African mobile market is expected to become the fastest growing market in the next 10 years and Tecno hopes to capture majority of the market share by offering quality smartphones with affordable price.
