Orlando, FL— June 4, 2015 — Air pollution is one of the biggest problems faced by the world today. It is continually spreading and causing a wide variety of ailments. The good news is that people can take some preventive measures to increase their protection against the health risks brought by pollution.
Studies revealed that fish oil may potentially be helpful in lowering air pollution risks. Air pollution is caused by small bits of liquids and solids combined with gasses. Billions of people are continually living in areas that have high levels of air pollution. Large cities in developing countries are often more polluted.
“The small bits of solids and liquids that are a part of air pollution are known as particular matter. Exposure to this particular matter can result in various health problems such as arrthythmia, stroke and heart failure,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.
According to the California Air Resources Board, particular matter can potentially alter the lipid levels in the blood. It can increase cardiovascular disease and other related deaths. California, for instance, has air pollution that is believed to be responsible for 9,000 premature deaths every year.
A laboratory study on humans found that fish oil supplements could offer cardiovascular protection against the adverse effects of air pollution. The two measures of heart health, namely the heart rate variability and lipid levels, in individuals who took fish oil for a month showed little change after breathing the pollutants. Experts believe that slight change of diet is beneficial for people and their health, especially those who are living in highly polluted places in the world.
“Some studies also found that fatty acids are capable of relaxing blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and affecting the signals of the nervous system that control heart rhythm,” added O’Sullivan.
In the study, twenty-nine subjects between the ages of 50 to 72 were instructed to take fish oil supplements or olive oil for one month. They were also made to breathe air with high levels of particular matter pollution. All of the participants were considered healthy and had no history of pulmonary lung disease or cardiovascular diseases. They also had not smoked for about a year.
At the end of the study, it was found that the group who took fish oil experienced little change in their heart rate variability. The result demonstrated that taking fish oil could lessen cardiac symptoms that are caused by exposure to air pollution (http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Fish-Oil-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00O8NS20K/).
