doTerra International, an essential oil company was recently awarded the Business of the Year award by Utah Valley BusinessQ. The company had earlier been honored with some top prizes like the Utah Valley Business of The Year in 2013, and very recently the Mayor’s Award by Pleasant Grove 2014. According to sources, the Q Awards is celebrated every year to commemorate Utah County’s top companies. The categories included in the award are Company of The Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Marketer of the Year, Executive of the Year, Headliner of the Year, and Philanthropist of the Year.
Upon contact, the founder and CEO of the company, David Stirling, stated that, “We are honored by the award”, and further went on to state that “Pleasant Grove is perfect for us. Utah is perfect for us. We have 60 acres here, and we want this to be an inviting, welcoming place for the community. We are committed to Utah.” By that commitment, he meant sponsoring of local high schools, partnerships with some athletic departments, organizations, and work towards promoting STEM education to the youths in Utah.
According to records, doTerra was started in 2008 by a group of health-care and business professionals who were driven together by deep experiences with the benefits of essential oils and envisioned to introduce a new standard of therapeutic-grade essential oil to the people.
Back in 2008, the company began offering 25 single oils and 10 oil blends. These products found immediate acceptance from essential oil experts and users alike. In December of the same year, doTerra had achieved $1 million in sales. Today, the company celebrates $1 million sales every day and has a modern corporate headquarters with more than a million Wellness Advocates. Striling later commented that successes like these are truly a reflection of the hard work put in by everyone associated with the company.
