Skout Deals is a new app developed by a husband and wife team to help people find those local deals quickly so they can start saving money fast. The app provides discounts, coupons, and money savers based on the app users GPS location, with over 40,000 deals available at over 100,000 merchant locations.
AUSTIN, TX — NOVEMBER 2nd, 2016 — Discounts and coupons are big business today. More and more people are using discounts and coupons to make ends meet, and some have turned coupon clipping into a past time. Couponing as an “extreme sport” has also become a fad, according to The Wall Street Journal. Programs like Extreme Couponing have documented this phenomenon and proven that there is benefit and savings in looking for discounts. When economic times get tough, more and more people turn to discounts. However, with the increase in popularity come issues. It’s harder and harder to find coupons with the sheer volume of coupon sites on the web. Extreme couponers and married couple, Alice and Bryan Payne found that it was becoming extremely difficult to organize their coupons and discounts with the mass proliferation of sites on the web that claim to offer them. They had several deal apps already downloaded on their phones, each with their own set of features and drawbacks. After discussing what they saw as the problem, a lack of consolidation, they decided to build their own with the help of investors. Enter Skout Deals.
“Our first date was a discount meal for Burger King way back in high school, so that should tell you something about our relationship with coupons and getting the best deal,” jokes Alice. “We had been using discount apps and coupons for our entire relationship and marriage, but recently we found that it was harder and harder to find the deals—not to mention less fun, when you have multiple apps and sites to visit in order to find what you’re looking for. Skout Deals came as a result of us putting together our requirements as ‘couponers’ for what would make a great app, and then getting the help we needed to build it.”
Skout Deals was designed with the following requirements in mind: 25% savings or more, GPS location based deal finding, up to date coupons only (no expired coupons), preference based search, and it had to be easy to use. After a long development and test period, the app is now available for download on The App Store, and the Android version will be available in December. Users can expect to see coupons for local and national chains, as well as, individual brands all at savings of 25% or more.
