Grantham, NH - Christine Almstrom, a children's and young adult author/illustrator, freelance artist, and current member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for ‘Blood Moon Eclipse’, a young adult fantasy novel. The Kickstarter campaign aims to garner widespread support and financial backing to publish, market and distribute the book.
Christine Almstrom has been an artist since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Originally born in Florida, she's lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and is now settled in the state of New Hampshire. A self-proclaimed ‘Imagination Expert’, literary addict, and collector of books, shoes, and sea glass, Almstrom has successfully self-published three books in her writing career; ‘The Legend of the Black Grim’, ‘Popover - Little Mouse in a Big World’ and ‘How Do You Catch a Falling Star?’ Her latest project ‘Blood Moon Eclipse’ is a fascinating tale of a teen who burns a boy on her 16th birthday with only her hands and learns she's a witch with a 300 year old bounty on her head by a dead man. With ‘Blood Moon Eclipse’, Almstrom invites the reader into her intriguing world of fantasy and magic where all things are possible.
Excerpt from Blood Moon Eclipse:
I clutch the sides of the sink exhaling slowly, hoping to purge the anger but the sight of my fingers against the pale marble floods me with a new emotion: fear. The sound of his screams rushes back to my ears. No. No. No. I stare at my blackened hands. It can’t be. Not again. I pump the soap into my palms, frantically rubbing. The water pours out scolding hot. I reach for more soap; scrubbing harder but the evidence is branded into my guilty hands. I sink to the floor, wrapping my arms around my knees. I burned him. I burned Ben Eaton with my hands. He’ll tell everyone. The entire school will know about me. About what I did. I can’t go back. There’s something wrong with me. My birthday is cursed. No…I’m the curse.
“Since I was a little girl, I've been fascinated by the weird and unusual...the things that go bump in the night. The things other children feared, inspired stories within me,” said Almstrom. “[Kickstarter pledges] will see this young adult urban fantasy published. I can't wait to share Blood Moon Eclipse with [everyone],” says Almstrom.
Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. ‘Backers’ who support a project on Kickstarter get an inside look at the creative process, and help that project come to life. All ‘Backers’ of the Blood Moon Eclipse Kickstarter campaign who pledge $ 30 or more toward Almstrom’s $5000 goal will receive a signed copy of Blood Moon Eclipse.
“The manuscript for the book is complete, revised over a dozen times to ensure the tightest, most professional work, and edited. All that remains is completing the layout for the cover which will be finished within the next two weeks,” says Almstrom.
The Kickstarter campaign is officially open until May 29, 2017. For more information about the Kickstarter campaign, visit: www.christinealmstrom.com
