November 11, 2016, Los Angeles — CarVi is demonstrating their context-based ADAS technology in AutoMobility LA, the new auto industry’s first trade show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 14-17.
CarVi, a Silicon Valley technology startup, has built an affordable Advanced Digital Assistance Systems (ADAS) which can be installed in any car, old or new. After successfully raising more than $100,000 on a crowdfunding platform Indiegogo last year and attracting additional funding from a group of investors, the company has launched their product this fall.
CarVi combines a dashboard camera to add digital and advanced analytics. The system is designed to provide warnings on forward collision and lane departure, and automatically collects data on the driver’s habits to offer tailor-made assistance. The device incorporates the scoring system and an intuitive coaching mode.
Now, the company is aggressively expanding into the B2B market through partnerships with car insurance, fleet management, and rental car companies. Recently, it signed a contract with Lotte Rental in South Korea to supply its ADAS for 1,000 rental cars. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea has announced that it will introduce a law that makes the installation of an ADAS obligatory, to prevent massive car accidents caused by sleepy drivers. Korea Telecom, the nation’s second-largest telecom company, will jointly develop ADAS products with CarVi and sell them through its marketing channels.
Insurance companies can save money by using CarVi’s solution in telematics for more accurate premium estimates, attracting lower risk policyholders who can benefit from Usage Based Insurance (UBI), and offering value-added services to their existing customers. CarVi leads to decrease in the number of collisions and injuries. In a case of an accident, the camera takes videos and helps prevent false claims.
Transportation companies will benefit from using CarVi through lower maintenance, fuel costs, and insurance premiums. The dashboard camera can be installed in a matter of minutes, and the software is capable of monitoring the performance of a single driver or an entire fleet.
“We’re looking forward to participating in AutoMobility LA and hoping to create strategic partnerships with other industry players. Our mission is to make roads safer for everyone, and I believe that it is shared by the entire mobility ecosystem.” Said CarVi’s founder Kevin Lee.
Built on the four-year success of Connected Car Expo and the 109-year history of the LA Auto Show, AutoMobility LA will include the global vehicle debuts, an award-winning conference exploring the future of connected vehicle technologies, autonomous tech, and an auto-tech focused expo floor, with groundbreaking technologies and the companies that create them.
