02, February 2015: With bespoke comes unconventional and this is what drew the team at F&L Designer Guides to Daniel Gallie. This talented designer leapt onto the handmade bespoke jewellery stage in 2008 with the aim of creating modern jewellery for both men and women. Daniel Gallie’s collections exude fluidity and are designed to be worn with comfort, appealing to the everyday wearer.
L from F&L says that in his designs she catches a glimpse of the Renaissance elegance that quite possibly influenced him in the early days of his training, which he spent in Arezzo, Italy. Natural, floral shapes combined with crystal, gemstones and precious metals bring Daniel Gallie’s designs to life, and without separating design and raw materials he instead cleverly creates one as an extension of the other.
The founder of F&L believes that Daniel Gallie’s use of the lost wax casting technique ‘Cire Perdue’ sets him apart from many more conventional jewellers. This method of metal casting is antique, dating back three millennia but, incredibly enough, has remained true to its origins. Daniel Gallie uses this technique to his advantage and the limitless shapes he incorporates in his designs are testament to his skill working with it.
Designing bespoke commissions that include many engagement rings, Daniel Gallie offers something that defies convention, yet retains class and elegance in every aspect. The modern designs created using such an ancient technique as ‘Cire Perdue’ are credit to the way the artist effortlessly harmonises old and new to produce his one-off masterpieces.
F&L Designer Guides are excited to have this jeweller involved and are really enthused about the way he adds yet another interesting element to their ever-evolving world of bespoke designer jewellers.
