According to a "people's choice" survey that was put out by Randstad, a recruitment firm, the most attractive employer that people want to work for in Singapore is Google. This comes as no surprise to a lot of people as the company has a great reputation for innovation, which appeals to a lot of people who are currently looking for jobs. There were nine criteria that Randstad used to rank companies according to their attractiveness, and Google held the top spot in all of them. They placed them as the winner for the Randstad Employer Brand Award this year, their very first time in the running for this competitive and prestigious award.
It's beyond impressive that any company would take first place in all nine categories in which people were surveyed. Although Google has never won this award before, it's obvious according to the survey why they are the most attractive employer that Singapore has to offer currently.
This award was known as the Randstad Award but now goes by the name of the Randstad Employer Brand Award, which better reflects what it is used to honor. More than 26 countries participate in this annual award, and only the top company in each country will be honored by receiving it. More than 160,000 people all across the world are surveyed to make sure that it really is the top company who gets honored each year.
The criteria that the companies were judged on this year included: career progression, work-life balance, pleasant work atmosphere, and job security, among others. Each country that participates will have their 75 largest companies voted on and ranked. It's common that each of the 75 companies employs more than 1,000 people. In Singapore along the survey engaged more than 5,000 job-seekers and employees. These employees and job-seekers were all between the ages of 18 and 65.
Last year the winner was Changi Airport Group, a local firm that came in second this year to Google. Randstad is impressed at how well this small company fares against such larger ones in the competition. The fact that they can hold their own is a testament to how smaller companies that are home-grown can brand themselves and stay relevant even against such huge companies like Google.
Changi Airport Group has now been ranked in the top three winners for four years in a row. This is incredible for this local company and speaks a lot to their values and how they run their business, making sure to keep their employees happy and doing what is right by them instead of just focusing on the bottom line all the time. Third place this year behind Google and Changi Airport Group as ExxonMobil.
There were three other sectors that were rewarded for having the most attractive employers. These sectors were the property & real estate category, the banking & financial services group, and life sciences. The three companies that topped these sectors were CapitaLand, DBS Bank, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, respectively.
