IIMSAM-Headquarters, New York) In a very prestigious acclamation for his humanitarian work Dr. Naseer Homoud Goodwill Ambassador and Director of Middle East office for the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) was felicitated as Most Influential Person of the Year Award-2009 in Jordan.
He was felicitated by Akhbarna- a leading electronic news channel as the Most Influential Person of the Year-2009 in Amman, Jordan under high patronage of H.E Faisal Al Fayez, Former Prime Minister of Jordan on April 9, 2010. He was honored at Royal Culture Centre, Amman by His Excellency Faisal Al- Fayez, the Former Prime Minister of Jordan, for acclamation of his humanitarian work especially for malnourished children and his noble works for humanity. Dr. Homoud is a well kwon philanthropist and is widely acclaimed for his sincere and honest efforts for humanity.
Dr. Naseer Homoud is an eminent and well known personality of the Jordan being known across the world for his humanitarian and social activities. Known for his philanthropist activities Dr. Homoud has achieved several accomplishments in his life in acknowledgement of his work. The sincere and honest efforts of Dr. Homoud are widely acclaimed in region and Jordan in particular. His work for eradication of malnutrition and hunger together with his special attention towards marginalized children are widely applauded in the region.
Expressing his gratitude Dr. Homoud reaffirmed his commitment to work for humanity, he added “I enjoy the moment with all happiness from core of my heart when i see smile on face of even one child; i don’tknow why it is, but that smile is really a catalyst for me and it gives me more energy to work for them“. Reacting to the award he said “I do not view it as recognition of my personal accomplishments but rather an affirmation of the work which we at IIMSAM are doing for ultimate benefit of mankind. “This award is not simply about my work rather it is to be shared with everyone who strives for an egalitarian society and particularly with my team at IIMSAM“.
On this occasion, Dr. Homoud also urged support for IIMSAM in accomplishment of its mandates. He observed “IIMSAM believes that promises in the Millennium Development Goal to reduce hunger and poverty by half by the year 2015 can only be redeemed by serious thinking, planning and action. Dr. Homoud further added “when we look the other side, there are impending challenges for the mankind. The global challenge of food shortage has to be kept in mind while formulating policies for countering the menace of global food crisis“. The nature of crisis asks for global and concerted efforts on the part of world bodies, governments and civil society groups to tackle it“. He stressed “hunger is about people and ending hunger is about policies“.
While calling support for IIMSAM which is working on eradication of malnutrition, Dr. Homoud urged the governments to support IIMSAM in pursuit of its aims and objectives to make this world free from hunger and malnutrition. Dr. Nasser also highlighted the hard work by IIMSAM team in fighting world hunger and malnutrition through spreading Spirulina. He said “under guidance of His Excellency Ambassador Remigio M. Maradona Director General of the IIMSAM, the organization is committed for providing and making available the Spirulina to the third world countries which can help us in checking hunger and fulfilling the long cherished goals of eliminating hunger and malnutrition from the face of the world“.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent peoples including several Minister, top officials and renowned signers of Jordan.
IIMSAM’s Director General H.E. Ambassador Remigio Maradona stated-
“My deepest congratulations for our Regional Director and Goodwill Ambassador Dr. Naseer Homoud who by his actions proved that with sincere and honest efforts every goal can be achieved. His efforts in spreading mandates of IIMSAM in region are indeed commendable and I am of firm opinion that under his aegis IIMSAM shall achieve further momentum in its Mid East operations. In my opinion no other person than Dr. Homoud deserved this award for his tireless and determined efforts for eradication of malnutrition. I wish him all best for his future endeavors and trust that his contribution to IIMSAM shall continue until we ensure that our world is free from malnutrition“.
IIMSAM was granted an Observer Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), in keeping with the Resolution Number E/2003/212, dated 5th of March, 2003. IIMSAM is registered under the United Nations Treaty Series Number 37542-37543 dated 7th of June2001, in accordance with the Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations. IIMSAM has a De Facto diplomatic status in U.S. soil.
