K9Active, an online retailer of pet supplies, is donating dog food to the local food bank in Dunfermline. Many people who are living in poverty barely have enough at the end of the week to provide food for their families, let alone for their dogs. The food bank accepts dog food donations as a way of helping these financially struggling families.
Representatives from K9active received a tour of the Food Bank from John Drylie, who is responsible for running the Dunfermline Food Bank. They got a chance to see first-hand the positive effect that the food bank and the many generous volunteers have in the community.
There has recently been an increase in need for food banks, with three more opening in Fife in the near future. Food Banks that are currently running include Rosyth and Dunfermline, with another scheduled for Inverkeithing. This demonstrates the great need for food, not just for families that are going through crisis but for the pets who live with these families too.
Pets Are An Important Part of the Family
Those who are considering donating to a food bank to help families in need, should also remember the pets and give some cat or dog food for them as well. Many people think about families and children in need, but often their furry friends can be forgotten.
However, it is very important to take care of pets especially for families in need. Pets are an important part of the family and having a cat to cuddle or a dog to snuggle when you are going through difficult and stressful times can be incredibly important. Having some donated dog food with which to feed their beloved furry friend can make a huge difference in the budget of a financially stressed family — easing some of their monetary worries.
