King Athletic has donated 200 jump ropes in support of the JL Memorial 8K Challenge that took place on December 12, 2015. The 2nd annual JL Memorial donated the race’s benefits to the Wounded Warrior Project organization.
Leading fitness brand, King Athletic, is proud to announce its support to the JL Memorial 8K Challenge, an 8K walk/run that this year raised funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. King Athletic donated 200 jump ropes in total for the cause, and the organization raised more than $2,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
The 8K race took place in Sherman, Illinois on December 12, 2015 and the race winner, Dalton Moore from Rushville won the overall race finishing in less than 30 minutes (29 minutes and 11 seconds). In the female category, Annie Gregurich from Springfield, Illinois won the race finishing in 40 minutes and 55 seconds.
The JL Memorial 5-mile Challenge is an initiative to honor Corporal, USMC John Lazell as a way to get more people interested in the physical and mental health benefits of running. Lazell, a fervent advocate for veterans, had in his lifetime finished 39 races across the country even though he participated in his first one in his fifties.
The JL Memorial 8K Challenge honors service members for their sacrifices and courage to serve their country. The Challenge benefits the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports wounded veterans that have sustained mental or physical injury during service. It was established as a nonprofit in 2003 and since then provides a complete range of rehabilitative services to help them recover and integrate in civilian life. So far, the Wounded Warrior Project has supports tens of thousands of service members, according to JL Memorial 8K Challenge.
Benjamin Davies, King Athletic spokesperson said of the event:
"We're honored to participate in the JL Memorial 8k Challenge through our humble donation. Service members that honored and sacrificed their lives for their country deserve all the support and credit in the world. This is our way of saying thank you and doing what we can to support Wounded Warrior Project's noble cause. Many congratulations to JL Memorial 8K Challenge for making this happen and to everyone that participated in the race!"
