The Legoland amusement park, at Windsor, might constitute an interesting location for school travel companies to explore, a feature writer for the Irish edition of The Independent considers.
Writing in a piece for the newspaper’s website, the journalist relates aspects of his visit to the park with his youngest son, in what he dubs an unforgettable experience that school travel companies might benefit from exploring.
Legoland Windsor, accessible within half an hour of London’s main airport, Heathrow, is one of six similar parks worldwide. The site is spread over 150 acres and boasts 55 unique rides, many of which are built with the help of 25m tall blocks of Lego. In addition to these rides, visitors to the park also have the opportunity to admire a number of different projects built out of ‘regular-sized’ Lego, which explore the full potential of the world’s most popular construction toy.
The park’s rides are split into a number of areas, each themed by a popular and best-selling line in the Lego catalogue. Children visiting the park can choose between Viking, Knight, Atlantis, Egypt, Science and Star Wars-themed areas, each chock full of attractions sure to delight the three-to-twelve-year-old demographic Legoland Windsor is aimed at.
Highlights, according to the author of the piece, include the submarine ride in the Atlantis area — which allows visitors to travel through a real-life aquarium — as well as the Viking River Splash (a water ride), the Dragon rollercoaster and the Laser Tag-inspired Laser Raider.
The author of the feature considers that some of the rides at this Windsor amusement park are as ‘as much fun as you can have’, and recommends the park to children at the lower end of the proposed demographic, considering pre-teens may not find the rides and themes of the park quite as challenging.
