New York, New York — OBEA Media announces its second mixed-media, collaborative “Silent Night” featuring Kimberly Marable. Just in time for the holiday season, the single and video are scheduled for release November 23, 2016.
A Brooklyn-native and Dartmouth College graduate, Kimberly Marable is currently in the cast of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway. Other New York and international theater credits include: Sister Act (Broadway), The Book of Mormon, Hairspray, and Dreamgirls.
“Working on "Silent Night" with the brothers of OBEA Media was a definite departure from what I normally do, artistically speaking,” states Kimberly Marable. “I couldn't be prouder to celebrate the beauty and fragility of our black boys through this song and spoken word piece. My hope is that people hearing this song will join me in honoring, encouraging, and uplifting our black boys, whose beautiful, strong, blackness is a birthright.”
OBEA’s “Silent Night”—an experimental, mixed-media artistic project—adds a cultural twist with a modern message, depicting the hardships of being born Black in America today. Produced by Music Producer, Marlon Saunders; Writer/Creative Director, Stephen Earley Jordan II; and Costume Designer, O’Neal Wyche, the three faces of OBEA Media, are committed to create unique, relevant art.
Designer O’Neal Wyche stated, “Working with Kimberly was an absolute pleasure and wonderful experience. Ms. Marable is a true, rare talent and exudes the highest level of vibration with every whimsical hand thrust and powerful vocal belt.”
“Silent Night” video, directed by Adolphus Amissah, will be available on Youtube; and its complementary song, on Itunes, November 23, 2016.
