Overlake Plastic Surgeons are writing a blog series to help raise Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October.

Dr. Nicholas Flugstad and Dr. Michael Leff of Overlake Plastic Surgeons, a plastic surgery practice in Seattle, Washington, will be releasing a series of blogs during the month of October to help raise breast cancer awareness in support of Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day or BRA Day. By writing and distributing educational resources, Drs. Flugstad and Leff hope that readers will gain a better understanding of breast cancer and breast reconstruction as well spread awareness on BRA Day.

A new article will go live on the Overlake Plastic Surgeons’ Plastic Surgery Blog each week in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Blog topics will include “Breast Reconstruction Options”, “Living Tissue Reconstruction Versus Implant Reconstruction”, “I am having a lumpectomy. What are my options?” and “New and Innovative Ways to Enhance the Reconstructed Breast” and will be published following this editorial calendar:

1)    Week of 10/5: Breast Reconstruction Options
2)    Week of 10/12: Living Tissue Reconstruction Versus Implant Reconstruction
3)    Week of 10/19: I am having a lumpectomy, what are my options?
4)    Week of 10/26: New and Innovative Ways to Enhance the Reconstructed Breast

Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. It is a collaborative effort that includes plastic surgeons specializing in breast surgery, plastic surgery nurse specialists, corporate sponsors, and breast cancer organizations.

In addition, to further support the education, awareness and access for women who are considering post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, Drs. Flugstad and Leff are available to answer any questions you may have about these topics in an interview and would be thrilled to be able to present at your breast cancer support group.
